Today at the Harp Class in Dundee, as it is St Patrick’s day, we looked at a medieval hymn to St Patrick from Trinity College Dublin ms.80.
Ecce fulget clarissima
Behold, flashes brightly
in qua carne deposita
whereby the body he has abandoned,
felix transcendit sidera.
happily he passes through the stars.
Recording of me singing it
Recording of me playing it on the harp
Yesterday I was at Hospitalfield House on the edge of Arbroath for a private function. I was very impressed by the Victorian decadence of the building and its furnishings.
Continuing my experiments with moonlit photography, here is a photo of the replica Queen Mary harp. I love the strange intensity of the colours.
